Sambal Cibiuk: Icon of Garut

"Panas di mulut, adem di perut" (Hot in the mouth and cold in stomach)

After a nice night sleep in oom Jannur’s and Tante Mimien’s house, we’re planning to spend our full day exploring Garut. First, we’re going to find a nice breakfast spot. We decided to go to Bubur Ayam Pak Sofyan. Tante Min is going to go with us as a guide, while oom Jannur must go to work. But we have planned to meet each other to have lunch together at Cibiuk Restaurant.

Cibiuk restaurant is known for its Sambal or Chilli. Sambal Cibiuk is known for its extraordinary and extreme spice, but it doesn’t cause stomach-ache. "Panas di mulut, adem di perut" said Om Janur.

That’s weird, because this Sambal is very hot, and the hotter a food is, the worse stomach-ache you get.
